9th and 11th Graders
- The 11th grader finished Mathusee Stewardship. This curriculum was very much worth it for us. I'm going to have the younger two also work through it during high school. The things it teaches are very practical - things like interest rates, mortgages, car loans, giving to charity, house repair costs, etc.
- English
- The Outsiders (read-aloud)
- Writing assignment (continued from yesterday): write a short essay about Alexander Solzhenitsyn (author of One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich)
- Bible reading
- British History: Hadrian's Wall and the Druids
- Youtube Video: A Day in the Life of a Celtic Druid (TED Talk)
- Youtube Video: The Roman Wall that Split Britain into Two Parts (Smithsonian)
- Art
- Edgar Degas' "Dancers in Blue" (1890)
- Gymnastics (outsourced)
We were finished with school by 2:30 pm.
The "11th Grader" is Finished
- After her college placement scores (she tested into the highest tier in English and math), I set her as graduating high school on May 1st (in about 4 weeks). The only thing I wanted her to finish was Mathusee Stewardship, continue reading her Bible and The Outsiders. She finished Mathusee Stewardship today. I told her anything she does now is just because she is an autodidact. I'm not going to assign her anything or tell her what to study. She's more than ready for college this summer.
- Her diploma, cap, gown and tassel have arrived in the mail. I need to take her graduation pictures soon, so I can order her announcements and scrapbook that I've been making on Snapfish.
