Kindergartener
Five in a Row - Make Way for Ducklings
- He set up a scene with plastic ducks and animals and put on a show reenacting the story from the book
- We played basketball inside with his Little Tikes basketball set. He needed some exercise and it's very cold outside
- Egg Drop Experiment Kit - we built three devices to protect an egg from a fall. We then went outside and tested each device with a real egg. Two of the devices failed and the egg cracked. One device worked and the egg survived the fall
This was the first thing we built to protect the egg. We went outside and tossed the egg in the air and it landed in the grass. We brought it back inside.
The egg had cracked in the fall.
We reinforced the cushioning inside the device and attached a parachute to it. We tossed it up in the air and it landed on the grass. We brought it inside to see if it cracked.
The egg cracked, but not quite as bad as the first device.
One of the weirdest things ever - we wrapped the egg in paper towels, built a small pyramid with plastic straws, put the egg in the pyramid and then built a larger pyramid around the smaller one. We then suspended the smaller pyramid from the larger one with twine.
The pyramid broke apart in the fall, but the egg didn't crack!
He really enjoyed this entire experiment. We spent about an hour on it.

- Algebra Honors page - she had a hard time with this and it was something I couldn't help her with. I think it's actually calculus....I would need to sit down with the text and try to figure it out. Because it was the Honors page, I just let her do what she could and be done.
