A Story About Discovering Charlotte Mason's Writings

 Karen Andreola is one of the educational pioneers who reintroduced the homeschool world to Charlotte Mason.  I just stumbled onto her website this evening and really enjoyed reading about how Karen and her husband Dean tracked down copies of Charlotte Mason's writings in England and found a publisher to have them brought back into print in the 1980s.

 We lost almost an entire week due to one of the worst sicknesses we've ever had.  The kids have mostly recovered, so we did what we could with schoolwork today.

• After not using a math curriculum all winter, I decided to give Life of Fred a try.  I started him with Cats, because even though he could do the arithmetic easily, there seemed to be things in that book that he needed work on, like money and sets.  He said he loved Life of Fred after just one chapter.  I already own almost all of the Life of Fred books (from the older kids), so switching was simple.  I just had to get the book off the shelf.

 I'm trying a new schedule where I make a weekly checklist of what I want to accomplish for school this week, but it isn't going well.  He keeps wanting to do things that we already checked off our list and arguing if I tell him we need to get some language arts stuff done.  I probably won't do this again next week.  I only tried this, because we had a lot of appointments this week.

Is it really weird?  Yes.  Did my 9 year-old make it?  Also, yes.  And I'm not sure what those snakes are doing to those people or what that bird's problem is.  And, yes, that is a waterfall in the corner.  Maybe the people could dive into the waterfall to get away from those snakes.
